Genesis

For just over a month, I have been blogging on a different site. It has been fun, and will continue to be the destination in which I blog about the random thoughts that I have daily. But I have begun to feel like I don't have an outlet for deeper discussion. The solution was easy...start another blog.

As I have been meeting with a couple different book clubs, and delving into theological discussions, I have discovered my inner "nerd". I want to learn and be challenged. Perhaps all of the deadlines you're strapped to in college trained me to use discussion and writing as an outlet for learning and confirming. The plan is to post notes, questions, and thoughts about the various discussions and books. Right now I am reading "The Shack" by William P. Young and "Becoming Conversant with the Emerging Church" by D.A. Carson. I hope you enjoy the blog...and if not, I will.

interesting blog idea. i have been doing my own research on the 'emerging church' since my best friend goes to one...and i'm moving to the city in which she lives. i actually feel like her church (the "founding church" of the movement...if you will) actually has a balanced approach on the subject and vision for the most part; however, churches that have "spun-off" from them have in some cases, crossed a line that igores the importance of church and becomes too friendly to the idea of the "open-handed" approach of exceptance. though i love the base-line philosophy of the church, i do believe that without careful moderation, a church service that should be "holy ground" and truly a "sanctuary" turns into a time of "people-pleasing" and lack of "worship expression" in effort to not offend. i do not agree with that. in balanced moderation though, i believe that many denominations and independant churches would do well to reach out more to their community, which the "emerging church" seems to have mastered (in some cases).

I literally just bought becoming conversant. Haven't touched it yet, it's in my stack to read. Anyways, thanks for the link...didn't know you knew I had a blog yet!
